How to Create a Small Garden Pond Using a Tire

Building a mini pond with a recycled tire is a simple and eco-friendly way to bring life and charm to your outdoor space.
Here’s how you can do it step by step:
1. Prepare the ground
Start by digging a hole large enough to fit the tire.
The hole should allow the tire to sit securely and evenly in the ground.

2. Install the tire
Place the tire into the hole and cover its interior with a durable plastic liner.
This will ensure the pond remains watertight.

3. Add a natural touch
Use stones or rocks to cover the outer edges of the tire.
This not only hides the rubber but also gives the pond a more natural and decorative look.

4. Fill with water and details
Pour water into the pond, spread some gravel at the bottom, and position ornamental plants around the edges to create a lively environment.

5. Decorate the pond
Finish by adding small decorative elements such as flowers, garden figurines, or solar-powered lights to enhance the beauty of your new garden pond.

TITAN-ANAKI, 36 feet tall

TITAN-ANAKI, 36 feet tall, belongs to the race that built the pyramids in antiquity. They have 52 pairs of Chromosomes, and instead of hemoglobin they have iron-based blood, they have copper-based blood oxygenation, the color of their blood is Blue instead of red, their bones are of a very hard consistency like tooth enamel with graphene bars on them, the skin is made of several layers with the consistency of nails. Their digestion is done with monatomic white gold powder. The strength and endurance of their muscles is on the same scale as that of the scarab - the dung beetle, thousands of times stronger than a gorilla of the same size. They do not take oxygen directly from the atmosphere, but do it in the aquatic environment or by ingesting the water, because they have a separation system and obtain oxygen.

A Heartfelt Moment This Christmas Season

In August, my son and I had the privilege of visiting Kulki Plantation, nestled on the Western Highlands side of the majestic Wahgi Valley. Together with officers of the PNG Agriculture Commercialisation and Diversification (PACD) Project, we met the remarkable Ken Petakin (pictured), owner of this historic plantation.

Our mission? To share his incredible story of perseverance and hope through a widely-acclaimed newspaper supplement published in The National last month.

But today, something truly special happened. Mr. Petakin called me, out of the blue, to express his heartfelt thanks. He wished my family a Merry Christmas and spoke of the impact of our work. His kind words touched me deeply—it’s moments like these that remind me why I love being a journalist.

Originally from Wabag, Enga, Mr. Petakin took over Kulki Plantation in 1980 from the late Clem Leahy. After years of challenges, his determination is finally paying off. Thanks to a K1 million boost from the PACD Project, Kulki Plantation is making a comeback! 🌱

This support will not only breathe new life into the plantation but also empower 400 coffee-growing households in the surrounding area to scale up their production. ☕️🌍

As the year comes to a close, I’m reminded of the resilience and hope that lives in the heart of Papua New Guinea’s people. Merry Christmas to you all, and may stories like these inspire us to keep pushing forward.
